If a drive containing a swap partition fails, the system won't panic. For performance, you want to spread your swap across as many spindles as possible. For reliability, you don't want to do that. Vinum potentially allows you to have performance and reliability. Obviously, one would use RAID 0+1, not RAID 5, for such an application. >BTW: Is swapping to vinum supported?
