The goals help define what the project is. The first mention of 4.4BSD-Lite should be linked to the history section, to at least indicate to the reader who has never heard of it that it will be explained. I also think that putting the first 5 sections describing FreeBSD in the same document as the Unix Basics sections is a little discordant. They don't really belong together.
