I also added a line to remove a gcc/obj link which was making it difficult for me to compile without root permissions. I made some modifications to a Makefile in the f/ subdir but havne't commited it because something is very weird about it, it seems almost as if configure messed up the Makefile.in file. I got it to a final link stage in f/ but it still had unsatisfied symbols, because something didn't build right in the gcc/ subdir, I think. Gotta run.
