Floppy tape has this major problem of being largely proprietary -- we'd
have to change the driver for *each drive* and most of us don't have that
amount of time, and many companies aren't willing to give that info out.
Plus floppy tape is **SLOW** and isn't being developed much anymore.

IDE Tape just hasn't seen any support yet.  I think some people are
working on it.  IDE tape is still pretty new.  

If you want to join these efforts contact hackers@freebsd.org.  Asking
with equipment-in-hand is usually helpful for testing. :)
