This seems like amazing overkill to work around such an obscure bug :) I disagree with your argument concerning CD-RW's: it's the filesystem used by CD-RW's that make them unsuitable for mounting read/write. Forgive me for getting just a tad OT, but I don't feel we should throw away the ability to mount floppies until we're ready to throw away support for floppies altogether. My 0.01 9/10 cents, -jj -- Users of C++ should consider hanging themselves rather than shooting their legs off--it's best not to use C++ simply as a better C.
