Unfortunately, it appears so.  Booteasy will do this if the geometry on
the second disk is wrong.  Try reinstalling, but this time put a small
DOS partition on the disk and delete it with sysinstall and put FreeBSD
over it.

In the boot sector.  You can clear it with the DOS command:

fdisk /mbr
