To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hi, Preliminaries: HP Vrctra Ve - P5/100 32MB, 1.0GB WD-21000 HD. NE2000 Comp NIC (LinkSys ISA Card) I am trying to install 4.0 STABLE from an ftp connection (This is cool BTW). I get an error message of "MAKEDEV returned a non-zero status" (or something to that effect). and on tty1 I get the following sequence of error messages: pid 108(sh), uid 0: exited on signal 12 (core dumped) Bad system call - core dumped. I get the same message for pid's 109 through 129. The system stops the installation at this point. I can boot and things seem to work but the installation was incomplete. I can't figure out what cause the core dumps? "/dev/MAKEDEV std" completes without errors! TIA. Robin. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
