You can't have more up to date Mesa libraries on an XFree86-4 system
than what is shipped with XFree86 or you break the DRI.  For 4.3.0, that
is Mesa 4.0.4.  The Mesa port which some things depend on only supplies
glut, plus a software-rendering library you can link to specifically if
you choose.
