I bought my Connor TapeStore 4000 (SCSI internal) serveral years ago
for $350.00.  It uses QIC-3040w tapes.  I haven't had any problems
with it.

Before I had this tape drive, I was using a QIC 80 floppy tape.  What
a pain....... Switch to the SCSI tape if you can.

Somewhere on www.freebsd.org is information about different tape
devices people are using.  I think you can find it in the supported
hardware doc.
