Dave,

Freebsd-current comes with g77 has the Fortran compiler.  Its
runtime library is libg2c.a.  Libg2c contains libF77/libI77
as well as libU77.  If you still want to compile libF77/libI77,
you can install the f2c port (ports/lang/f2c).
