yeah, i mean i dont mind using <link> at all, as i am
used to it, what we can do is, convert the current
<xref>'s into <link> if there is no object to it
and.. as a nice touch up.... it would be better if 
<link> were formatted with an underline or a blue 
color in other formats such as PDF, PS....
