Neither in AHCI nor in IDE mode I'm able to burn cd's, most times I can't even read a cd. Also booting with a CD inserted takes forever. At least 'burncd fixate' failed on all drives. Am I the only one unable to use CDs with 7? What chipset/drive/mode combination is known to work?
