If this is indeed an fxp card, I've seen this problem randomly for a few years. I've replaced fxp cards, and have the same fxp cards on identical motherboards without problems...but just the (reasonably rare) random case where this happens every few (20-24ish?) hours. ifconfig up/down always brings it back.
