Subject: XFree86: more than 8 bits-per-pixel for #9 L10?

(I got such a good response from my last question, I figure
I'll go for it again! I had tried posting this question to
comp.windows.x.i386unix, and didn't get any response.)

(I'm running FreeBSD 2.0.5, with a CTX CPS-1760/LR monitor.)

So here I am with my #9 Level 10 card (pathetically obsolete, I
know), which README.S3 claims supports:
	8, 15/16 and 24(32) bpp

However, when I specify any -bpp size other than 8, I get a black screen.
I have tried using the same modes under 8 bpp, and things come up fine,
so I don't _think_ it's a timing issue. I'd love to see X under > 8 bpp
(even though with only 1 meg of VRAM, I'd have pretty limited screen
real estate.) If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
