I "maintain" comms/birda, but I haven't used it in 10 years now.  I suspect=

people use infrared these days.  If birda ends up blocking WITH_PIE, one op=
tion
is to mark the port for removal.

I looked briefly at the ports Makefile.  The only interesting thing is

# Fix build with clang11
CFLAGS+=3D        -fcommon

Is there a bad interaction between -fcommon and PIE?
