Have you reported this yet? It might not be too late to fix it in 7.0-RELEASE. Oh, btw: 6.3-RELEASE did the same for me, but because I had tried the other trick I mentioned (the one described in the link), manually installing the FreeBSD boot manager fixed everything and gave me dual-boot.
