I suprisingly saw that building gdal-1.3.1 stops again, but with a different error message - please have a look below. Building --without-geos is successful! In December gdal-1.3.1 built successfully with geos-2.1.4. Well, something crucial must have changed again. Will there be a chance to get it going again?
