I've recently had to build a firewall based on iptables ;-(
i sent an email to a linux group and most of them recommended debian
i have not played with it just yet but here's a snip from one email that got
me curious .

Debian of course

Do a base install and then...

apt-get install kernel-image-2.4.18-386
apt-get install iptables
apt-get install cyrus-imapd
apt-get install postfix
apt-get install procmail
apt-get install samba
apt-get install dhcp

the apt-get option reminds me of the ports .....
i will be more than happy to hear your decision ( I'm a fan ...)
