Ok, one question. Is it possible to mount, fsck (ok) and use these disk 
without a partition?

Because I have been using these disks for some time now and this 
behaviour is seen only once in a while.
Where does the filesystem exist then, if not within a partition?! 
Directly on the disk slice?
