I built the kernel with "device pcm", and the sound card is detected when the system boots: pcm0: port 0x1850-0x1853,0x1854-0x1857,0x1000-0x10ff irq 5 at device 7.5 on pci0 /dev/sndstat shows this: cosmos:~# cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Feb 16 2002 11:50:00 Installed devices: pcm0: at io 0x1000 irq 5 (1p/1r/0v channels duplex) And I set the mixer to the following values: cosmos:~# mixer Mixer vol is currently set to 100:100 Mixer pcm is currently set to 100:100 Mixer speaker is currently set to 100:100 Mixer line is currently set to 0:0 Mixer mic is currently set to 0:0 Mixer cd is currently set to 100:100 Mixer rec is currently set to 0:0 Mixer line1 is currently set to 0:0 Mixer phin is currently set to 0:0 Mixer phout is currently set to 0:0 Mixer video is currently set to 100:100 Mixer monitor is currently set to 100:100 My problem is that I cannot hear any sound. I run xmms on an MP3 file, and the spectrum analyzer starts moving, but no sound gets out of the speakers. Not even when I use cdcontrol to play audio CDs. Sound works correctly on Windows XP in another partition on the same machine. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
