If you installed program from ports or packages, you can check version using
pkg_info utility, otherwise you should read manpages and documentation shipped
with that program there is no standard for version checking.

If you're using bind 4.x, you may need to convert named.boot to named.conf
using named-bootconf.pl script, which is shipped with bind8.
