> This seems quite silly and certainly doesn't help engender Please, we've been all over this already many times in recent memory, and it's a common misunderstanding that the filter rules are there to buy security - they're not. They're there to force the use of locations other than openbsd.org for any contemplated attack on freebsd.org machines in the future, the theory being that if a relay needs to be used then it expands the potential scope of the conflict beyond what most [un]reasonable people would be willing to contemplate and hopefully serves as a functional deterrant.
