The only way out is a power-down of the computer. when the USB mouse is not plugged, the boot process goes to its correct end. the computer runs happily with 4.8-Release, and also with 5.1-Release, as long as ACPI is not loaded. ACPI is also broken for Linux Mandrake 9.1, 9.2RC2 and Knoppix 3.2 (it may work with Windows 2K) the verbose boot message when the mouse is not plugged is : Copyright (c) 1979, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 The Regents of the University of California.
