It does fix it.
Here is from my machine with Joomla 1.5 installed:

root@kg-vm# pv | grep joomla
joomla15-1.5.7              =  up-to-date with port
root@kg-vm# pv | grep -i pdf
pdflib-7.0.3                =  up-to-date with port
pecl-pdflib-2.1.5           =  up-to-date with port
