Blew chunks for me on my stove-stock 2.2.2-RELEASE install.  (This system 
was installed two days ago from the latest CD)

It started to go well - pkg_add pulled the package from your directory.

It backed up /etc to /usr/tmp/etc (so I was protected).

I selected "Kernel Developer" and told it to use all of the existing 
network configuration.

I selected FTP as the media.
(NB: My default route on the laptop is via ep0 to my desktop running 
iij-ppp -auto)

I couldn't get connected to ftp.freebsd.org.  A curse on those SlackWare 
folks pulling down 'their' latest cut ;-)

It attempted to gracefully recover, so I selected ftp4.freebsd.org (since 
it's closer to me).

Segmentation fault. :-(  Spilled core and gave me a prompt.

The system was sufficiently hosed at this point that I went back to the CD, 
did a clean install.  Restored /usr/tmp/etc/* back to /etc and I was in 
business again.  Under 2.2.2-RELEASE.

Oh well.  I'll try again later tonight.
