During boot, when you get to the prompt that says,

Hit [Enter] to boot immediately, or any other key for command prompt.

And the countdown starts, hit any other key (e.g. space-bar). At the
prompt you first need to unload the kernel that has already loaded,

> unload

Then you can load the kernel of your choice that is on the root
device. You can look at what is on the root device,

> ls

But if you want to boot the previous kernel,

> boot kernel.old

Is probably what you want.
