I had a machine that had been running -STABLE since 3.4-RELEASE that
refused to let my install the linux base port as well.  I finally bit
the bullet and reinstalled, cvsuped to -STABLE and linux base installed
cleanly.  I don't have a clue why, either, except that obviously
somewhere along the line I fux0red "something"
