Do you have ferrum.edu in the 'w' class in either sendmail.cw or
in sendmail.cf ?

In the .cf file, you'll see a line "Cw localhost". Add ferrum.edu on this
line, kill and run sendmail again. That should fix the problem. It will
make panther.ferrum.edu see that mail to ferru.edu is "local" and should be
accepted.
