 Hi linimon.
 The issue is specific to this ata chipset. You can look also at the m0n0Wall ML . Who has the same chipset is unable to mount the root disk. As yiu can see fro m the DMESG a machine using this controller can't attach the disk. I've just added an extra controller (PDC20268) and so the machine is back on line, w/o change on the kernel. I' ve actually this machine w/ a CD-ROM connected on channel 0/0 of the Cyrix controller, but it can't detect it. I've did the same test on a Soekris 48 board. Same issue.
