Then I took a brand new laptop, an ACER, model ASPIRE-7741Z-5731, and tried to install FreeBSD. (It had a copy of windoz on it. goodbye and good riddance.) My point is simple, this is about as vanilla as it gets. And I get the error, shown in the subject line. Not sure if this is important, but the ad4s1b partition is the SWAP partition. --jg
