You need to add your file systems to /etc/fstab if you want them to be mounted automatically. It seems that your real problem is that you want to run vinum on the root file system. As the documentation says in a number of places, you can't do this yet. I'll try to get things in place relatively soon. For the other file systems, yes, you'll need to manually copy over the data from the old file system to the new file system. Then modify /etc/fstab to point to the new file systems.
