After updating the system, I simply copy the backup back in, and diff to see what's new in the newly installed supfile. If anything significant is included in the new file, then I use the newer file and configure as per my amendments from the former. I've not ever used the "f" switch with portsdb before, so I'll run that to see if anything different comes of it. Thanks again.
