I see this as a nice long term goal to look forward to. The recent breakage of tools that build the pdf version of the Handbook because of it's large size would probably be solved if it becomes two books. I'll try to come up with a working doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/ tree that has two books instead of one in this week, and see if we can start working towards making this happen.
