Not so fast, there :-)

127.1 *was* standard in BSD /etc/hosts files for a long time. I couldn't
tell you at what release FreeBSD changed over, but it's not something to
be dismissed as pilot error. People can and will have incompatibilities
of this sort when they upgrade.
