The new issue of Daemon News ezine has just gone up at http://www.daemonnews.org Newbies Corner for April Books and guides often assume that if you follow their instructions everything will go smoothly, That's usually the case, but on those odd occasions when the unexpected happens it can be hard for a newbie to proceed without asking for help. This month's Newbies Corner column presents an example of failure to make something work, when typical newbie-level problem solving got you nowhere. It goes on to show how to get over this hump alone, by turning frustration into curiosity, so that what started out as a hiccup becomes an easy self-paced tutorial which you control. Once you have a little practice at guessing where to look, you have the opportunity to discover the hidden clues your system provides before anyone realises that you didn't know all this stuff already :-) (And where do you think the experts get their knowledge from? Hmmm.) I hope you will find this article easy to read and be able to use some of the ideas to make your learning time with FreeBSD more enjoyable. http://www.daemonnews.org/199904/newbies.html -- Regards, -*Sue*- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
