A `make world' prior to making a release has always been a prerequisite.
This is not a bug.

Naw, it's just a missing -ldes in the boot_crunch file since ppp
recently contracted a need to link with the DES code in order to
support Microsoft's authentication crapola.  Already fixed.

I think Steve's out of the SMP business for awhile - he had to
go find other work.
