I understand though that it's darned hard to install something if acd0 fails (But that could still be due too many things to call this someting a problem within FreeBSD, its ofcourse not ruled out but lets proceed): Can you try to install this from a FTP server instead? so bootup with the disks provided, and then continue installation through the web? That will get the required packages from the internet (Ftp.freebsd.org for example, or rather advised is: ftp.countrycode.freebsd.org which would be ftp.nl.freebsd.org if I where to use this). It will then install them, and probably bootup the system, if acd0 isn't recognized there we can continue trying to find why it isn't recognized etc. (Perhaps USB CD drive? There were changes to that code recently; but from memory; That didnt reach 7.0/6.3-RELEASE, not sure about the 7.0 part though). If you have follow-up information, please reply-all to this message (make sure freebsd-gnats-submit@freebsd.org is in the CC list) so that it can be properly recorded within the ticket.
