I've successfully installed a pair of Kingston KVR100X72C2/256 in my 500au,
and it spins beautifully. 

CPU: EV56 (21164A) major=7 minor=0 extensions=0x1<BWX>
OSF PAL rev: 0x1000000020116
real memory  = 534937600 (522400K bytes)
avail memory = 515727360 (503640K bytes)

That's nice :)
