I'm fairly new to FreeBSD and this is the first post I've felt necessary to make because I'm stumped on this one. I've cvsup'd my src and run 'make buildworld', but it has failed 3 times in a row. I've yet to have a problem with 'make buildworld' until now. Here is the problem I'm having about 1.5 hrs into the process: ad1: WRITE command timeout - resetting ata0: resetting devices .. ata0-slave: no status, rescheduling device done. ad1: HARD WRITE ERROR blk# 20566623 status=0f error=0f ad1: soft error ECC corrected. ... blah blah blah and it continues with similar error messages. Eventually my box comes to a halt and I actually have to power down without shutting down the system correctly. HDD problem? Looks to me that it might be, but I'm not sure. 'make buildworld' has run flawlessly in the past up to this point. Any advice would be appreciated...
