Hi,

To answer my own question, there was a package called "bind" which I am
assuming is from long gone days - I think this server started life as a
3.2-RELEASE machine. I deleted /var/db/pkg/bind (having backed it up) =
and
the problem has gone away.

At the moment, there seem to be a lot of things written about ports and
portupgrade and pkgdb etc. Is there a decent guide to this anywhere? =
I've
seen plenty written about how to use it, but the choice of what to do =
with
missing origins and the like seems to be a black art.

And what's the approved way of upgrading MySQL3 to MySQL4 for instance? =
Is
it simply a case of removing 3 and installing 4 or is there something =
better
suited?

Regards,

Jonathan
