Ok.  That was an important fact you left out.  We're still debating the 
switch to ppbus for 3.0; it's pending confirmation of reported PLIP 
problems, but it's good to know that it's working properly for you.

Yup.  Eventually the switchable media stuff could be used to select from
various possible alternative protocols at the wire level.
