This is one of their server class machines. Be preppared to spend a day futzing with it just ot get freebsd on it. The Smart2/P and Smart2/E are supported by a device driver that isn't integrated into the mainstream sources yet. Check the mailing list archives for the "ida" driver. Don't know if there is a recent forward port of the driver to 3.0-BETA. You'll still need to use the "Smart Start" stuff to configure the machine and the RAID array before you even try to get freebsd on it. You may or may not be in luck with regards to the integrated SCSI controller. It may be a symbios 53c810 or 53c875 based controller, which is supported, or a 53c710 which isn't. The on board ethernet may or may not be supported, might be a TI "thunderlan" based ethernet controller, which is supported by the "tl" driver. If the machine features multiple host to pci bus bridges you'll need a recent version of freebsd to have use of all the PCI slots. Also look at the "LINT" kernel config file for the way to define more than 16 megs of memmory, the bios compaqs use doesn't report more than 16 megs in a way that freebsd can pick up on, so you need to compile a kernel that explicitly knows how much memory is on board.
