Since changes in one of the last days (say since 15th of december) there
is no longer any sound from my speakers. Snif. The kernel does no longer
panic however, mpg123 happily goes through the motions, except that
there is no sound coming from the speakers.

sbc0: <ESS ES1879> at port 0x220-0x22f,0x388-0x38b irq 5 drq 1,5 on isa0
pcm0: <SB DSP 3.01 (ESS mode)> on sbc0

henny:n_hibma# mixer
Mixer vol is currently set to 75:75
Mixer synth is currently set to 0:0
Mixer pcm is currently set to 75:75
Mixer line is currently set to 75:75
Mixer mic is currently set to 0:0
Mixer cd is currently set to 75:75

Sound from the CD player with an Audio CD does work, in case someone was
wondering.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to investigate and try a few
different versions of the source, but I am more than willing to test a
version if someone can suggest to me the right mix of files to try in
/sys/dev/sound/*.

Cheers,

Nick
