This is an option that could be turned on post-install of course.  I've not 
been following the discussions on Soft Updates so I hesitate to show it and 
not know the ramifications.  Maybe someone who has a good deal of experience 
with the option could comment.  At the very least, perhaps a reference to the 
handbook section is in order.  You point is well taken.
