I'm sure this idea has been used, but I know that the docproj primer 
seems to have alot of information on the makefiles that use the 
FreeBSD docproj port.  It works with docbook, sgml, jade, and blah 
blah blah, it also explains a little on makefiles.  That information 
should help in the conversion process..  Just to help, enjoy.
