Why are you trying to run "make depend" in /usr/src?  The instructions
for building a neww userland and kernel can be found in the file
called /usr/src/UPDATING.  Please read that file carefully, especially
the part after:

        To update from 4.0-RELEASE or later to the most current
        4.x-STABLE
        ----------
