I saw this as well.  I believe something(tm) changed in the on disk db file
format, such that exim_tidydb running with the new libc had issues.  I just
wiped my db/* directory (they are just caches, they are expendable), and
restarted exim.

I saw this about a week ago, on a freshly supped and built CURRENT:

2053 root 1 115  0  5966M  5921M CPU3    3   0:23 86.47% exim_tidydb

The exim queue was empty.

The only other thing of note running was a 11GB mysqld (5.4, which ran
about 2-3000x slower than expected).
