This used-to-be-reality-and-now-is-a-myth idea is self perpetuating.

If people are allowed to put stuff into -stable without at least a 
couple of weeks in -current, not only will the code definitely not be 
run by -current users, but it will encourage the FreeBSD developer 
base to simply run -stable because it causes less local problems.

I'm not aiming this gripe at you Peter, but please don't spread the 
myth that it's ok to put stuff in -stable that hasn't had any 
shaking-out in -current 8*P
