Well, there does appear to be a lot of general feeling that we should wait, so how would people feel about a push-back to the 14th? That would put it out next Friday. I'm kinda loath to keep shoving the release date forward since eventually people will start to wonder whether or not 4.4 is going to join 5.0 in being delayed by a year, but if there's a genuine desire to really test all the edge cases then I'm willing to give users and developers the time they need. A corollary to this, however, is that I will NOT be accepting any more feature submissions to the branch! If you can demonstrate that your bug fix addresses a regression from 4.3 or applies only to the documentation then I'll let it in, but I don't want to hear any "well, since we have another week, can I merge the foo driver?" requests from anyone. A week for polishing things up I can buy, but not a week to try to cram in everything that missed the deadline. The branch is now FROZEN, as in arctic pack ice. - Jordan From: Nik Clayton <nik@FreeBSD.org> Subject: Re: 4.4 will be delayed until Saturday, the 8th of September Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 22:46:12 +0100 > On Thu, Sep 06, 2001 at 09:48:30AM -0700, Jordan Hubbard wrote: > > What length of time would you prefer? > > I'd say at least a week.
