2.4.20 expects the NPTL in the kernel, but our kernel only activates
some additional stuff when it's set to 2.6 (note: this is limited to a
small, but AFAIR important part of the kernel stuff). So either use the
default, or 2.6.16 to be on the safe side. Everything else is something
we don't help to debug.
